JAMB official cut-off marks for 2026 admissions announced

JAMB has announced the official minimum cut-off marks for 2026/2027 admissions for Universities, polytechnic, Colleges of Education and Colleges of Nursing. This was part of the decision taken at the 2026 policy meeting held in Abuja and chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa (CON).

  • For universities, 150
  • For Colleges of Nursing: 150
  • For Polytechnics: 100
  • For Colleges of Education/Agriculture: JAMB result is no longer required for admission

Other important decisions made at the 2026 policy meeting are as follows;

1. Every institution can set its minimum UTME score acceptable to it for admission. Institution will not be allowed to offer admission to candidates whose total score or points is below the minimum score set by the institution and approved at the Policy Meeting.

2. The minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria is still 16 years. Candidates qualified for admission are expected to be 16 years on or before September 30th, 2026.

3. Institutions are not permitted to offer any candidates admission outside of the JAMB CAPS. All admission exercise must go through the JAMB CAPS.

4. Institutions must not admit students beyond their approved quotas. This means schools are expected to strictly follow the number of candidates officially allowed for each programme.

5. The amount for Post-UTME screening at N2,000. According to JAMB, any institution interested in conducting any form of screening could do so, but the charge for the screening should not exceed N2,000 only.

6. Candidates who are offered admission will  have a maximum of four weeks to accept their offer. Failure to do so may lead to the offer being withdrawn or reassigned.
